My introduction to woodworking began in 7th-grade technology class, laying the groundwork for a technical skill set. The journey progressed through wood construction classes in 10th and 12th grades, where I honed fundamental skills and safety techniques. From the initial stages of learning basic cuts to mastering advanced woodworking techniques, each step marked a technical evolution. As I reflect on this segment of my journey, it represents a progression from foundational knowledge to technical proficiency.
During this next phase, my woodworking journey shifted into high gear as I dedicated countless hours to absorbing insights from woodworking tutorials on YouTube. These online resources became my mentors, teaching me the intricacies of woodworking, safe tool usage, and essential skills that continue to be invaluable. With this knowledge, I established my personal workshop. Each project undertaken in my workspace helped to refine my techniques, implement safety protocols, and further develop my woodworking skills. The combination of virtual learning and personal practice not only deepened my understanding of the craft but also marked a significant chapter in my growth as a woodworker.
At this point I realized that a personal workshop was needed. To address this need, I revamped a neglected corner of my basement to create a functional workspace. I constructed a sturdy workbench and resolved significant lighting issues in order to lay the groundwork for the expansion of my woodworking. This pivotal step marked the beginning of a deliberate journey to grow both my tool repertoire and woodworking skills. Slowly but steadily, my workshop transformed from a modest corner into a dynamic space, enabling me to take on increasingly complex projects and continue to refine my craft.
In 2020, I took a significant stride in my woodworking journey by joining a local small business specializing in custom furniture, wood slab sales, and the production of floating shelves for retail on Amazon. This employment not only afforded me the opportunity to work efficiently within the demands of the job but also facilitated substantial skill development, heightening my safety awareness and hazard recognition in the workplace. Beyond the hands-on manufacturing processes, I gained insights into crucial small-business operations. The experience enriched my understanding of the end-to-end customer order fulfillment process. Specifically, I contributed to the creation of floating shelves—cutting boards, drilling, sanding, staining, and meticulously packaging them for shipping. This role not only honed my technical woodworking skills but also developed my ability to collaborate in a dynamic and noisy environment, maintaining high productivity levels while working with others.
In the current phase of my woodworking journey, I am immersed in the planning and conceptualization of future projects. Whether during spare moments or school breaks, I typically have a queue of 5 or 6 projects waiting to be completed. This perpetual stream of creativity drives me to continually learn and experiment with new technologies and techniques, seeking to infuse innovation into every endeavor. Simultaneously, my focus extends beyond the workshop as I delve into growing and enhancing my small woodworking business. This involves an exploration of avenues for improvement, be it in refining existing processes or adopting innovative approaches. The commitment to lifelong learning, coupled with a dedication to pushing the boundaries of my craft, propels me forward, ready to embrace the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead in my woodworking journey.

Outside of my professional and personal pursuits, I find tremendous joy in the great outdoors, engaging in activities like running, biking, swimming, and road trips. While the summer months offer the perfect backdrop for these pursuits, I also enjoy skating during the winter months. Growing up, my childhood was infused with constant outdoor adventures, and I’m always on the lookout for new hobbies that get me outdoors. Some of the best moments come from simple outdoor gatherings with those close to me, creating memories that will last a lifetime.
I played varsity baseball and ran cross country in high school and have been fortunate enough to continue playing on the club baseball team during my college years. Beyond the baseball diamond, I enjoy a variety of sports, including golf, pickleball, basketball, and pond hockey, as well as kanjam and cornhole. Additionally, during the winter months I enjoy ice skating. My love for sports isn't confined to playing alone; I'm an avid fan, cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Boston Red Sox.
Beyond my active hobbies, I enjoy learning about the United States' role in the world, with a specific fascination for the monumental events of World War II. The battles fought during this pivotal period, and the men who shaped the course of those battles, have become subjects of deep interest for me. Diving into the complexities of World War II, I am drawn to the narratives of strategic decisions, the valor of those who fought, and the indomitable spirit of those who defined an era. This exploration is not merely a hobby but a quest to understand the multifaceted aspects that shaped the course of nations and the lives of countless individuals. The sacrifices made, the strategies employed, and the resilience displayed during this vital period serve as a lens through which I glean insights into the impact of historical events on the world we inhabit today.
